Another happy player: Matthew Kelly loves his new Pedal Board Tamer.

by Jon on Aug.19, 2010, under Players

Jon:

I got the pedal board tamer in on Friday (liked the “high caliber guitar ammo” tube).  Here’s a photo taken this weekend.

I dismantled my old pedal board and made a big rats nest of wires on the carpet to test things out.  Great product.  What I especially appreciated was the true tone that came through the pedal.

Over the last couple years (running through about a dozen pedals) I found that my guitar kept getting duller. The crisp tones I heard when I went guitar – 10ft cable – amp weren’t there when I ran through my pedal board even with all pedals off.  I changed cables went to George L’s and reconfigured the pedal configuration many times to try and recover some of the lost jangle.  I made some gains but never reached that true guitar to amp tone I always went back to as a default.

This weekend after plugging all the pedals into your PBT I of course had to do the test.  So with nothing on I played the guitar then immediately unplugged from the PBT and went straight into the amp.  I was delighted to hear that my tone through the PBT was just as true as the tone straight into the amp.  There was no volume drop or added hiss and there was no loss of string attack.  I prefer fairly bright settings (American Ash body tele, LP classic with P90s and Gretch Anniversary hollowbody with TV Jones pickups are the guitars I mainly play) and all of the brightness and bight of my tele and P90s and all of the ring of the Gretsch hollowbody came right out when I ran through the PBT.  So thank you for recovering much of the tone I’ve been looking to get back.

Now to make a new pedal board where everything can fit.  And I’ve already had 2 other friends want to come check it out so maybe they’ll order from you soon.

Thanks again.
